Microservice: a company used to innovation
At the beginning of Microservice’s history, microfilming was the focus of the business. After a few years, the company started producing CDs, building the first optical disc factory in the Southern Hemisphere with absolute pioneering spirit in 1987.
In the 1990s, there was a need for change and Microservice also started producing DVDs and VHS tapes, as well as office items. In the 2000s, the technological demands of the market led the company to continually look for new markets, such as plastic extrusion. Today, Microservice produces sanitisers and cosmetics.

The fact that prompted the move to the cloud
In 2005, Microservice had to move its headquarters from São Paulo to another address in the same city. The need to move the servers to another location showed the company’s managers how much they needed to make the journey to the cloud. “You have to unplug the server from one place and plug it in from another, and it has to work,” comments Mr. Isaac Hemsi, CEO of Microservice.
Not yet in the cloud, the company had to – before realising the change of address – invest in other local servers in the new building. “That’s why we started thinking: ‘If we move again, will we have to go through this hassle again? It would be so nice if we had this data stored outside the company’,” says Mr Hemsi.
Microservice’s entrepreneurial vision
To make the journey to the cloud, it was necessary to make investments that, at first, were greater than those made in the local servers. “The entrepreneurial vision of our top management was fundamental in enabling us to migrate to the cloud,” emphasises Silvana Saraiva, Controller at Microservice.
In addition, the move to the cloud was seen as a market requirement. Sticking with local servers meant going back in time.
