Microservice’s mindset has led to incredible transformations over the years. 50 years of history. There were at least 9 market segment changes, that show a a mindset totally focused on growth and innovation. No wonder the company made the journey to the cloud with the certainty that this was the best path to success.
A few years after the migration was completed, Wevy, in partnership with Grupo Mir, began providing Microservice with its cloud computing support, monitoring, management and infrastructure services. The long-term gains have been numerous, especially in security, availability and scalability.
Take the opportunity to learn more about Microservice’s history by watching the videocase with the testimonials from the CEO, Mr Isaac Hemsi, and Controller, Silvana Saraiva, and understand how the company made the journey to the cloud after pivoting its operation numerous times:
Microservice: a company used to innovation
At the beginning of Microservice’s history, microfilming was the focus of the business. After a few years, the company started producing CDs, building the first optical disc factory in the Southern Hemisphere with absolute pioneering spirit in 1987.
In the 1990s, there was a need for change and Microservice also started producing DVDs and VHS tapes, as well as office items. In the 2000s, the technological demands of the market led the company to continually look for new markets, such as plastic extrusion. Today, Microservice produces sanitisers and cosmetics.
These are just a few examples that show that Microservice is an innovative, pioneering company that is constantly adapting its mindset to the demands of the market – especially technological ones.
The fact that prompted the move to the cloud
In 2005, Microservice had to move its headquarters from São Paulo to another address in the same city. The need to move the servers to another location showed the company’s managers how much they needed to make the journey to the cloud. “You have to unplug the server from one place and plug it in from another, and it has to work,” comments Mr. Isaac Hemsi, CEO of Microservice.
Not yet in the cloud, the company had to – before realising the change of address – invest in other local servers in the new building. “That’s why we started thinking: ‘If we move again, will we have to go through this hassle again? It would be so nice if we had this data stored outside the company’,” says Mr Hemsi.
Microservice’s entrepreneurial vision
To make the journey to the cloud, it was necessary to make investments that, at first, were greater than those made in the local servers. “The entrepreneurial vision of our top management was fundamental in enabling us to migrate to the cloud,” emphasises Silvana Saraiva, Controller at Microservice.
In addition, the move to the cloud was seen as a market requirement. Sticking with local servers meant going back in time.
After an in-depth analysis of its tools and legacies, the company decided to definitely adopt cloud computing. It was at this point that Microservice hired Grupo Mir – a specialist in TOTVS ERP projects.
For some years now, Grupo Mir has been offering Microservice the Grupo Mir + Wevy Solution, which has been specially designed to deliver complete and personalised management of TOTVS ERPs, from infrastructure to ERP management.
This solution offers valuable differentials for Microservice:
- A personalised project suited to the company’s environment;
- Improvements to current ERP performance;
- Specialist management with a focus on ERP;
- Dedicated infrastructure;
- ERP-specific monitoring;
- 24×7 service + SDM + personalised SLAs;
- +Security: high availability of environments.
Partnership with Wevy is based on transparency
According to Silvana Saraiva, trust and transparency are fundamental in any business partnership. “You have to trust the partners you choose. That’s why we chose Wevy,” emphasises Controller.
In addition to the advantages of the partnership with Wevy, Saraiva emphasises that cloud computing has brought many benefits to Microservice, such as availability, scalability and remote access. “We’ve never had any downtime to replace a server, nor any hacking or loss of data in all the time we’ve been in the cloud.”
The mindset needed to migrate to the cloud
Firstly, thinking differently is crucial for managers who are aiming to migrate their company’s data to the cloud. “When you move to the cloud, you need to think outside the box, literally. You have to think about the new environment, you have to get rid of everything you’ve created in the on-premise data centre,” says Microservice’s Controller.
The journey to the cloud requires a change of mindset, a complete opening up to a new reality. In other words, agility, scalability and efficient systems integration are part of the day-to-day life of companies that decide to migrate their systems to the cloud.
